REIHNER Earns Photo Accolades

(Kolkata, West Bengal, India – March 30, 2024)

India’s Sundarban International Film Festival (SIFF) recognizes art films and photography with themes of environmental awareness.  The festival, boasting a month-long exhibition calendar, is particularly interested in furthering the cause of independent image-makers.  SIFF judges recently announced Eyes of the Hunter and Watercolors, photos taken by Philm senior KT Reihner, both won first place awards in the Nature & Landscape and Commercial photography categories.

Watercolors was taken to fulfill requirements in professor Natalia Kravchenko’s Photo Thesis Portfolio course.  One image in a collection of lifestyle product photos, Reihner shot art supplies in vivid primary hues.

In 2021, Reihner shot Eyes of the Hunter in the African Savanna section of the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium.  The female lion assumed an instinctive predator’s pose when she spied a dog just beyond the habitat’s glass enclosure.

Reihner captured Wallace Monument with a 300mm lens while visiting Stirling Castle, three miles southwest of the famed tower.  The national landmark stands on the Abbey Craig overlooking what was once the capital city of Scotland.  The image, an official Travel Photography selection, situates the Victorian Gothic structure amid the region’s rolling summer hills.
