Erie-based Oddity Productions, recently hosted a string of events in honor of its newest short film, Portrait of a Universe. PennWest Philm students Ryan Hess and Jared Bupp recorded video and VIP portrait shots to chronicle a day of celebration at the Erie Playhouse, the Meiser Building, and the Performing Arts Collective Alliance (PACA).
“It was a really exciting experience” says Hess. “We operated cameras and gimbals with confidence thanks to the knowledge we gained from Film Production courses. 10/10 experience, and I can’t wait to do more like it.” Hess managed the videography throughout the day, capturing b-roll of the VIP area, photography, and afterparty.
Bupp handled the entirety of the photography. “It was a great experience. The coursework from Brian Fuller and Fred Scruton’s courses prepared me well!” says Bupp. “It is my dream to work on a film set with a camera through either still or motion photography. This opportunity allowed me to start to see my dream become a reality!”
The day offered Hess and Bupp many opportunities to connect with film producers and members of the Greater Erie Film Office (GEFO). Their work will be posted on Oddity Production’s social media accounts within the coming weeks.
