PennWest’s Digital Filmmaking and Photography (Philm) Concentration is proud to announce the latest group of students to successfully negotiate its candidacy requirements:
Zoe Barron, Joshua Bojarski, Caitlin Boone, Xander Brzezinski, Shane Cannon, Abbie Dugan, Anton Partusch, Naomi Polito, Aidan Rauscher, Jacob Sukhenko, Tanner Tomak, Kaden Velasquez, and Kaleb Zanders.
PennWest’s Philm candidacy application process is an Academy-standard portfolio review that attempts to predict success in the program’s most demanding upper-level courses. More importantly, it’s a collaboration between professors of Art and Career Center coaches to guide students in the preparation of employment search materials.
“If we evaluate the webpages, résumés, and demo reels of sophomores, we know they’ve got a suite of goodies they can add to and revise. I don’t like the idea of seniors starting from scratch in one last, panicked semester. No graduate should wake up fearing they’re unprepared for a job hunt,” says Associate Professor of Digital Filmmaking Brian Fuller. “Candidacy at PennWest is really about getting a head start on professional readiness. Polished self-presentation is especially important in a gig economy.”
The next candidacy application deadline is April 15, 2025. Visit philm.school/candidacy for more information, consult a Philm Professor, or contact the PennWest Career Center.
