REIHNER snags Choose Internship

(Erie, PA – May 8, 2023)

Edinboro junior and Philm Lab Aide KT Reihner has been awarded a paid summer internship with Erie’s Free to Choose Network.  Free to Choose is a non-profit organization that produces broadcast and web-delivered videos which educate viewers in economic and political theory.  Much of their current work grows out of a popular 1980 PBS series featuring Nobel laureate Milton Friedman.

“I think of Free to Choose as a legacy internship,” said Digital Filmmaking Professor Brian Fuller. “KT is following on the heels of alumna Taylor Prach who had an internship there in 2018.  That internship transitioned into full-time work when Taylor graduated.  It’s great to see another class of students strengthen ties between Edinboro Philm and the local community.”

“I’m using a lot of the post-production knowledge I’ve gained since being at Edinboro,” said Reihner.  In just the last academic year, Reihner supervised a departmental digital signage project, directed the documentary Twisting Memories (about a craftsman who sculpts bon-sai trees from wire and beads) and produced Lucid, a narrative short on the subject of mental health and grief.

It’s early yet in the internship, but already Reihner is gearing up with instruction in captioning software for work on the docu-series Free to Speak.
