Mark Wilton’s short story A Pool of Blood won a flash fiction competition sponsored by the English Association of Pennsylvania State Universities (EAPSU). “I found out I won while I was on set shooting Drunk History, the narrative film for fall 2022.”
Wilton presented the story at EAPSU’s annual conference at West Chester University. “I’d never had to present at any official conference,” said Wilton, “but I saw it as a way to showcase who I am as a person and a professional.”
Submitted at the invitation of PennWest English professor Jeff Bartone, A Pool of Blood distills a man’s life in the last few moments before he bleeds out.
“Storytelling is storytelling,” says Philm professor Brian Fuller. “Writing focused nanofiction is a perfect exercise for filmmakers. Mark’s Creative Writing minor is a great sidecar on the motorcycle of a degree in Digital Filmmaking and Photography.”
