(Brecksville, OH – September 16, 2021)
An Applied Media Arts major concentrating in Film and Video, Ryan Hess this week earned the designation of Adobe Certified Professional in After Effects. Introduced in 1998, Adobe After Effects has become an industry standard tool for motion graphics, visual effects, and compositing, used in the post-production processes of film making, video games, and television production.
After preparing for the exam with materials by GMetrix, Hess, an Edinboro sophomore, traveled to Brecksville, Ohio, to take his certifying exam from Cuyahoga Valley Career Center. A 2020 graduate of General McLane High School in Edinboro, Ryan has worked for more than a year in wedding and event videography and post-production with local firm Millennium Sound.
“I’m so pumped!” said Ryan. “I scored a 957 out of 1000 on multiple choice questions and performance-based tasks in After Effects. Some of the questions I wouldn’t have known without Professor Fuller’s Film 1 class. Pre-production process, rule of thirds, aperture and depth of field – they were all part of it. I’m not exactly sure of my career path, but this is going to help me behind the camera or behind the keyboard.”
“I love helping students fill a transcript with good grades and classroom projects,” says Assistant Professor of Digital Filmmaking Brian Fuller, “But certificates like Ryan’s are bound to help his résumé shine brighter in a pile of job applications. I’d encourage all my students to reach for additional training, workshops, and certifying exams, in software and specialty filmmaking equipment.”
